#SudsOfLove AT THE IRON PRESS ANAHEIM!

Beer + Charity… Count us in!  We here at the Iron Press in Anaheim have been so fortunate to get our hands on one of the ULTRA rare and highly sought after magnum (That means, “Gargantuan!”) bottles of Bottle Logic’s coveted “Red Eye November”.  Because of how lucky we’ve been feeling, we’ve decided to pass it on with a little extra positive juju added in for good measure!  From January 23rd until February 20th, with the purchase of every pint of House Lager, Bottle Logic 714 Blonde, and Stone Delicious IPA - customers will receive a raffle ticket entering them into the raffle of our prized “Red Eye November” magnum bottle!  That’s right!... We’re raffling that bad boy off to one of you!

What makes this deal even sweeter for us here at The Iron Press Anaheim is that a portion of the proceeds from this epic month-long event will be going to CHOC Hospital.  This hospital and the children in it have a special place in our hearts, so we are over-the-moon to be able to give back to them!

It will kick-off on January 23rd (starting at 5:00PM) at the J. Wakefield Brewing Tap Takeover that we’ll be hosting at our little craft beer bar in the Packing House.  This event is not one you want to miss!  We’re calling on all our fellow craft brew nerds to come on out to this super special event.  Nowhere else in California can you drink J. Wakefield suds on tap, as they do not distribute out here on the West Coast.  PLUS, we will have some SURPRISE kegs we’ve been hiding from our homies at Bottle Logic!  We feel like this event of rarities is just what we need to start this legendary month of craft beer and community coming together!  An official winner will be drawn by random on February 20th!

Here’s what we’ll have on tap for the J. Wakefield Brewing event:

The Iron Press Costa Mesa-Victory at Sea Day Beers

We’ve got the winning list of mouthwatering beers from Ballast Point!

Enjoy the High West Barrel Aged Victory at Sea- 12%. Ballast Point partnered with their friends at High West® Distillery to create a barrel-aged version of  Ballast Point Victory at Sea, their award-winning Imperial Porter with cold-steeped coffee and vanilla. From a blend of Ballast Point Victory at Sea aged in High West’s own bourbon & rye whiskey oak casks, new layers of complexity emerge with notes of soft caramel and smoky oak over a dark chocolate and roasted almond body. High West crafts delicious and distinctive whiskeys to honor the American West, making it the perfect pairing with their signature San Diego-born porter.

Peanut Butter Victory at Sea- 10% - This Peanut Butter Victory at Sea is a nutty version of their popular Imperial Porter. They took their trademark robust porter brewed with Caffè Calabria coffee and vanilla and added peanut butter, adding another level to this roasty, flavorful beer!

They added sweet roasted coconut to their robust porter brewed with Caffe Calabria coffee and vanilla, the perfect complement to this beer’s subtly roasty intensity. The Iron Press Costa Mesa Celebrates Barrel Aged Beer Day!

It’s Fall y’all! Let’s bring on the heavy beers to warm us up! #BABeerDay is approaching us this Friday, October 6th, and we’re celebrating with specials and flights ALL DAY! Yup, you heard that right! For one day only we will have a bunch of barrel aged beers on tap for all you heavy hitters! And, if you feel like grubbing, our exclusive chicken wings dripping in Barrel Aged BBQ Sauce will pair well with these brews!

Here’s a nice, healthy list of barrel aged beers we’ll have on tap! We’ll have flight specials, or, if you already know what you like, solid pours to get you going!

Clown Shoes - Crasher in the Rye- Stout- 11.5%-  For 2017, we brewed the base beer, Undead Party Crasher, and replaced the smoked malt with rye malt to complement the roasted chocolate core of the brew. Then we aged the beer in 100% rye barrels to create a new version of Crasher in the Rye.  95.5 Beer Advocate score.

Knee Deep -  BA Twisted Barre- Belgian Dubbel- 11%- A smooth Belgian Dubbel, Twisted Barre has a perfect balanced medium body composed of Belgian and German malts. This beer has a dry spicy flavor held together with a caramel backbone.

Booze Brothers- Horse Blinder-  BBA Brown Sour- 7.7%-  Brown Ale base with Strawberries & Cranberries

Anderson Valley Pinchy Jeek Barl Bourbon Barrel Pumpkin Ale- BA Pumpkin Nitro - 8.5%-  Aged for 6 months in Wild Turkey® barrels, this bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin ale is pleasantly creamy with a silky body and sweet caramel flavor. The aging process imparts notes of coconut, vanilla, and oak to compliment the tang of the spices and a hint of hops, all wrapped in a smooth, round finish.

The Bruery Saule -  Old Ale-16.1%- Our ninth anniversary ale, Saule, follows in the footsteps of our anniversary releases before it, which are loosely based on an English-style old ale, fermented with our house yeast strain, aged in bourbon barrels and blended using the solera method.

Boulevard - Whiskey Barrel Stout -  Stout-  11.8%-  Over-the-top but surprisingly approachable, this twist on the classic style starts with several types of malted barley, rye, oats and wheat. Robust flavors of vanilla, espresso, whiskey, chocolate and roasted grain are balanced by hints of date and plum, with just enough hops to round it all out. Roughly one-third of the final blend is freshly brewed beer; the rest is aged for up to a year (or more!) in both first and second use whiskey casks.

The Iron Press - Tart Tuesday Takeover - Brew List!

The Iron Press - Tart Tuesday Takeover - Brew List!

Hey, Party People! We have a long list of sour beers to look forward to at our Flight of Tartness event on Tuesday, 8/29 from 5PM to 10PM! We’ll also have really good food; hint: it's the sort of grub that typically gets alotta love on Tuesdays! DJ Lex-A-Khan will be spinning the jams since we’ll all be going up on a Tuesday! Also, get those creative juices flowing because we have an interactive blending component to this one...

We will have four different sours on hand to blend and curate your own tart combination. Get excited for The Bruery Terreux -  Tart of Darkness w/ Raspberries and Cacao, Petrus Sour Quad, Almanac Sangriaveza and the Ommegang Sour pale. You will receive a Petrus Quad taster glass to pour, mix and create a blend to your liking! Or, taste on their own!

And now, our impressive list of sours for TART TAKEOVER:

Almanac -  Sangriaveza - 6.5% - Inspired by everyone’s favorite brunch drink, Sangriaveza is a barrel-aged sour beer with more personality than it knows what to do with.  We aged blackberries, raspberries, cherries and merlot grapes separately in a mix of red and blonde base beer barrels, before creating the perfect blend. The result explodes with deep red fruit flavor and tannic notes, combined with light barrel-aged funk to make something special. Pair with seafood paella, dark chocolate desserts and siestas.

Almanac -  Dogpatch Currant - 7.5% -  The art of creating the perfect fruited sour ale starts with the barrels. As sour beer ages in barrels, each cask displays unique traits: bright fruit flavors, intoxicating aromas, and clean sour character. We selected our favorite Dogpatch Sour barrels, a Flanders red-inspired ale, and added a small mountain of blackcurrants. Inside the barrel secondary fermentation kicks off as the fruit and beer merge into one. The resulting barrel-aged ale is deep burgundy in color, laced with complex sourness, and rich in currant flavor. Pair this crimson ale with grilled venison, duck leg confit, and summer fruit marzipan tarts.

Beachwood Blendery -  Fortune Favors the Funk - 6.0 % -  Belgian-style sour ale fermented and aged in oak barrels and dry hopped with ex-598 hops.  We were fortunate enough to get a chance to bring back the Sierra Nevada crew to blend round two of ‘Fortune Favors the Funk’! We decided to dry hop with the same experimental hop as round one in hopes of recreating what we thought was an excellent beer. Lots of funk in the aroma, with notes of farmhouse cellar, barnyard, and citrus. Slightly hoppy with a nice round acidity similar to a traditional Belgian-style sour.

Phantom Carriage - Strawberry Broadacres -  3.9% -  A very pale wheat beer low in alcohol with light bread and clean lactic sour flavors.

Phantom Carriage -  Zombo Gose - 4.5% -  A refreshing tart and fruity wheat ale with a salt character.

The Good Beer Company -  Peach Soltera -  5.0% -  Mixed culture ale aged in oak with yellow peaches.

The Good Beer Company - Nectarine Smörgåsbord - 7.0% -  Mixed Culture blonde aged in a Smörgåsbord of oak barrels with Nectarines. This sour ale highlights amazing California Nectarines with an intriguing character from the second, third and fourth use American and French oak barrels.

Ommegang - Sour Pale Ale - 6.9% -  A wild-fermented beer containing funky sour flavors and a variety of aromas.

Petrus - Sour Quad - 10.5% -  From the innovators at Brouwerij De Brabandere we have something totally new: a Sour Quad. The Petrus Sour Quad is a limited edition blend of quadruple and 30% Petrus Aged Pale. The quadruple is a complex, dark, malty beer made from 5 different malts. Adding Petrus Aged Pale, pure foeder beer, to the full bodied strong quadruple creates a refreshing and complex taste.

Concrete Jungle -  Hollywood Babylon - 6.5% -  A Belgian-style ale fermented with a classic saison yeast strain and then aged in wine barrels with wild brettanomyces yeast.

The Bruery Terreux -  Tart of Darkness w/ Raspberries and Cacao -  7.1% -  Tart of Darkness is a sour stout aged in oak. Brewed to resemble a stout at its foundation, the journey into tartness begins with fermentation in large oak puncheons at Bruery Terreux, where it’s treated to a special blend of souring bacteria and wild yeast cultures. Following a slow but wildly active fermentation, the beer is transferred for extended aging into a dedicated collection of used oak barrels for Tart of Darkness. This includes emptied bourbon barrels from The Bruery that previously held beers such as Black Tuesday®. This special edition was aged with raspberries, cacao nibs and vanilla beans, imparting ripe, velvety notes to our awesomely dark and roasty sour stout.

The Bruery Terreux -  Befuddlement -  9.9% -  It’s rather ridiculous the melding of flavors that can be achieved by folding an incredible amount of boysenberries into a blend of our barrel-aged sour rye ale and bourbon barrel-aged anniversary ale. But Befuddlement does just that. This recreation of one of our favorite blends - a Hoarders Society exclusive release in 2014 - is a baffling, rich and balanced creation that showcases rich dark fruit, subtle funk, zesty jam, prominent oak and ribbons of caramel and toffee.

Bring your salivating taste buds because we’re about to knock you out of the TART! See you there, friends!!
